What's Your Way to Get in Shape?
 

Are you a runner? Love peaceful nature hikes? Maybe your thing is hitting the gym for a spin class, or a fat-burning boot camp?

 

However you like to break a sweat, San Diego has definitely got something for you! We have almost every kind of way to shape up right here in our own backyard; all you have to do is choose.

 

Jason Ventetuolo, owner of The Boot, an outdoor fitness boot camp in Carlsbad, says it doesn't really matter how you break a sweat, just that you are doing it. "Commitment and accountability are the biggest keys to lasting results. You need to find something active that you love, that way you will want to stick with it and see results." Jason also advises, "Make sure you are doing it at least three times a week for thirty minutes or more. And remember, you have to challenge yourself, just a simple stroll around the neighborhood won't cut it."

 

Another great way San Diegans are connecting to what fitness modality they enjoy best is Meetup.com. With hundreds of different fitness meetups, you are sure to find a group who enjoys some of your favorite fitness activities, and maybe in your very own neighborhood too.

 

Why not try something new? Get out of your comfort zone this year. For you, maybe that's some classes at the San Diego Rowing Club, Ballroom Dance or trying a Zumba class. Changing up your workout routine can also help break through prior workout plateaus - the important thing to remember this year is to just get out and get moving!
